Restaurant / winery “Hotel Badersee”

Grainau / Zugspitze 2013

The hotel „Badersee“ is located at the same called lake, in the little Bavarian village Grainau near Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. Holz and Design Wurm realized the renovation of the restaurant according to the designs of gnügeSTRAUBE GbR in 2013. Some years ago, the public areas, the breakfast room and the guest rooms had already been realized.

A spacious conservatory floods the restaurant and its 200 square meters with light. The columns and walls were paneled with black stained maple wood. Built-in black steel framed glass elements separate the seating area from the buffet area. Its furniture had been paneled with old wooden beams.

Benches were padded with beige artificial leather, tables were made from black steel pedestals with massive maple tabletop.

As architectural jewels seen is the wine controllers: a fan-shaped coffered wooden ceiling, a built-in wine storage refrigerator, open shelves from dark maple wood and black steel glass elements make the ensemble an “eye-catcher”.

For this project, experience and competence on divers materials was needed. Holz and Design Wurm carried out the implementation planning, manufacturing and installation works.

The given choice of material is a recurring theme through all the interior. Again and again old wood is combined with black steel; stained maple wood and black steel elements are combined with glass.
